Last Wednesday, I had the unique opportunity of sitting through an 8-hour seminar with merica’s IRA Expert, Ed Slott.  Ed is featured on public television, Forbes Magazine, Senior Market Advisor Magazine, Investors Weekley, Money Magazine, and more.  He is known as the leading authority on IRA’s.

While sitting in the event, it became evident that Ed was not just a genious in the financial industry - he also had a lot of insight in the marketing and sales arena as well.  Many of his marketing tips can also apply to internet and online marketing as well.

I would like to share some of the bullet-points/nuggetts relating to the Marketing industry that Ed Slott was able to share with me:

8.7.08 - Ed Slott Event: Marketing Notes

- Speak in Langugages People Understand (”Dumb it Down”).

- Think of Client’s Money as “Your Money”.  This will help you to provide them a higher level of quality service, while establishing a personal relationship with the client.

- Build Your Business by Helping Others Build Theres.  Don’t be afraid to provide a service to a client in return for another service.

- Trade “F” clients for “A” clients.  Sell or give away Delinquent/Low-Quality Clients to competitors in return for High-quality Referrals.

- The greater the outflow (marketing activity), the greater the inflow (cash/business) - that’s an MBA in Marketing.  The difference between Rich & Poor is activity!!!  It’s SIMPLY A NUMBERS GAME!!

- “Give Them Something to Talk About”.  Send Personal Cards and Gifts to clients.  Ideas: Unique items like personalized calendars, mail-order ice creme, etc.  Must be tangible objects (not something like a gift card).  Unique gifts will make your clients remember you forever.  You will get their business for life - GUARANTEED.

Hopefully some of those nuggetts will help you grow your business. I know they will surely grow mine and I am going to implement at least 2 of these ideas ASAP.
